Dancing in Eplaheimr

Photos upcoming!!

One of the more popular ‘courtly’ activities of the SCA is dancing. There are dozens of surviving dances from the renaissance and mediaeval period. In recent years it has become easier to find both the music and steps for these. At most of our events there is some form of period dancing done.
At larger society events there will sometimes be a ball held in the evening. Often at such events several of the planned dances are taught during the day leading up to the ball. The Torch-lit Ball at Raaglan castle in Wales is an example of one such spectacular event.

For details of dances practices locally contact the shire’s Dance Minister.

There are some good resources on-line for dancing which include the ten most common SCA dances in Drachenwald, which in turn we are learning as time allows.

Mistress Judith’s site with details of these ten among others can be found here

A great place to find information on dancing is the SCA Renaissance Dance Homepage, found here
